Fluke Networks D-Impactor (Model Number 10059000) |
The tool itself features a reversible blade. One side terminates and the other terminates and cuts.
My tool arrived with the non-cutting edge facing out and I wanted to reverse it.There were no instructions on how to do this so I have written up a simple step by step guide on how to do this.
Step 1 - Pull down on the black cover surrounding the blade as shown in the picture below.
Step 2 - Use your thumb to slide the black blade cartridge out. You might have to press firmly to get it started. There is a groove in the blade cartridge that slides along the top edge of the metal holder and another groove in bottom of the metal holder that accommodates the blades on the edge of the cutting side of the tool. These grooves provide an idiot proof way of inserting the cartridge correctly. Once you have pushed the cartridge out, it will look like the picture below.
The cartridge itself is heavy duty and looks like it will last for a long time. Fluke Networks does sell a replacement cartrige if I should ever need one...
Step 3 - Position the cartridge with the blades facing out and slide it back into the holder. Becasue of the grooves, it can only go in one way. Once you have the cartridge fully inserted, pull the black cover back up and you are ready tyo get to work.
I have already started using my D-Impactor and am very happy with it. It is great to be able to terminate multiple connections at the same time. I still have my trusty Fluke D914 impactor that I will continue to use for smaller jobs and tight spaces.
